Eurodia’s new building makes more room for its values
It was a complex project, begun in the pre-Covid world, and completed during the pandemic… But it is vital for the ‘post’ era, delivering a new quality of workplace life for our Group and accommodating its development.
Sometimes, you need to build walls to avoid hitting one. As the company’s growth inevitably heralded larger workspaces, Eurodia decided back in 2015 to invest in a third building at its longtime HQ. Construction began in February 2020, but had to stop a month later when France entered its first lockdown. Eurodia’s project team didn’t lose heart, however, and nor did the architect. Such moments demand situational intelligence, too! Work resumed after just a three-week interruption, and the building was finally completed in August 2020. This investment was supplemented in 2021 by the acquisition of an adjacent plot: in total, Eurodia’s site area has expanded by 65% (from 8,440 to 14,000 sqm) and its built area by 25% (production and storage).
Sustainable construction and communal areas
There are walls, and what they house. It so happens that they house one of our great values: a commitment to people and the planet. Sustainable design features (timber frame, maximum insulation, renewable heating and cooling, low-consumption LED lighting) serve to improve working conditions and social interaction for Eurodia’s community. In particular, the new building has spacious premises for the company’s employee representation committee, and a fully equipped 115 sqm dining room (six times larger than the previous one), which boasts a large, pleasant terrace. “During the lockdowns in late 2020 and the first half of 2021, and the long months when restaurants were closed, the teams who couldn’t work from home were able eat properly and maintain a convivial atmosphere while observing physical distancing, thanks to the size of this new dining room,” explains Cathy Calvet, Eurodia’s marketing and communications manager. “Now, the dining room has become a focal point of the site. The hugely diverse community of Eurodians connect there, and talk about things other than their day-to-day work. This helps foster the fulfilling collaborative environment that we cultivate here. The company is growing all the time, but what matters most to us is that we grow together.”
